Boesky Art Gallery
In the Fall of 2015 Highview Creations installed a hugelkultur mound at the Boesky Gallery in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Hugelkultur is the process of using decaying wood debris and other compostable biomass to build a raised bed. Typically designated to rural fields in Germany, Highview Creations adapted the hugelkultur method for roof top applications. Upon building the bed with locally sourced materials it was planted with sod and little bluestem grasses that take advantage of the nutrient rich biomass which make up the mounds structure.
